CASPIAN OIL OF AZERBAIJAN SERVES REGIONAL COOPERATION
Oil has been from the ancient times a definitive factor in the development of Azerbaijan. After Azerbaijan gained its state independence, it has become a true owner of this natural wealth. And it has been for ten years that Azerbaijan pursuing an open policy attracts the foreign investments to the large-scale development of the rich oil and gas resources of the Caspian. As a result, the Country has concluded 22 contracts with 33 large oil companies from 15 countries. These contracts include transportation of the oil reserves to the world markets.All these promoted the Republic of Azerbaijan to become an international oil development center in the region, hold a leading position in the Black Sea-Caspian basin, and mainly, enable to open the East-West energy corridor on a firm legal base. In his book, ‘Caspian Oil of Azerbaijan’, published by the Moscow’s ‘Izvestiya’ Publishers, the first vice-president of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev, from the viewpoints of scientific-technical and methodological points of view, substantiates the new oil strategy.
