CAVIAR EXPORT BAN EXTENDED
CITES (The Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) has extended a ban for Caspian sturgeon caviar export for Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
The only exception was made for Iran. CITES said Iran has fulfilled all the requirements. However, the quota was 5 tons smaller than Iran requested about.
CITES imposed a number of liabilities on the importers, in particular, European Union and Switzerland. CITES urged them to prevent the illegal caviar sales in shops.
