A sitting of the Central Election Commission presided by Mazahir Panahov took pace on August 17.

Initially, CEC chairman brought in the issue of fixing the date of new municipality elections for December 17, 2004.

Then, CEC secretary Natig Mammadov reported on approval of the Calendar Plan of principal actions to conduct municipality elections. Calendar plan was adopted by the commission members.

CEC secretary Vidadi Mahmudov proposed to approve the samples of subscription lists coupled with collection of signatures in support of candidatures for municipality members. The commission approved the samples.

The CEC sitting was attended by representatives of the International Fund for Electoral Systems, US embassy and foreign mass media.
