A Regular session of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Azerbaijan Republic chaired by Mazahir Panahov was held on September 2. Having approved the agenda the commission members confirmed protocols of CEC’s July 21, 25 and August 1 sessions. CEC Secretary Ingilab Nasirov reported on the registration of 50 persons appointed by “Muasir Musavat” Party as its plenipotentiaries. The Commission made a resolution on positive solution of the issue.

The Commission has also considered the address by the “Yeni Azerbaijan” Party to take measures upon registered candidates to Presidency Mammadov Etibar Salidar oglu and Karimli Ali Amirhuseyn oglu for insulting and spotting the honor and dignity of President of Azerbaijan Aliyev Heydar Alirza oglu during their August 29 television address in framework of pre-election campaign. It was decided to make a notification on this fact and apply to the Ministry of Justice of the Azerbaijan Republic for taking measures.

Then other applications and complaints have been discussed by the commission. Three of them have been sent to the Office of General Prosecutor for investigation.

Representatives of International Fund on Election Systems (IFES), OSCE Bureau on democratic institutions and human rights, local and foreign mass media.
