CHESS FEDERATION OF AZERBAIJAN MAKES STATEMENT
Chess Federation of Azerbaijan (CFA) made statement on robbery of the international grand master Teymur Rajabov in the hotel room of Mexico, who is gearing for the Linares tournament.
Laptop with important information was stolen, the statement says. In spite of the grand master`s repeated address, no measures were taken.
The leadership of the hotel asked the law enforcement bodies in two days. As a sign of protest, Rajabov refused to partake the tournament.
Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan and CFA addressed the International Chess Federation (FIDE) to investigate this case.
Azerbaijan side also appealed to the member-states of the international competitions to raise the concern for athletes and condemn such facts.
