CIS experts to discuss use of satellite communications for military purposes

On June 21 and 22 CIS Executive Committee in Minsk will hold a meeting of the expert group on coordination of a draft agreement on the use of satellite communication systems for military use and their further improvement, AZERTAC learnt from the press service of the Minsk-based headquarters of the organization.
According to the document, the usage and further development of satellite communication systems for military purposes will be carried out in order to improve the reliability of the control under the armed forces.
To this end, it is planned to create an integrated system of military satellite communications of CIS member states on the basis of its national segments. In order to ensure unity of approaches to the creation of such a system, the Russian Defense Ministry as an umbrella organization for the development of requirements to its technical characteristics will assist CIS ministries of defense in ensuring compatibility characteristics of national segments of satellite communications for military purposes.
The parties will promptly inform each other of planned changes in the organizational and technical structure of the system of military satellite communications and take appropriate decisions aimed at their improvement and development. The draft agreement will be submitted to the Council of CIS Heads of Government.
