CONSTITUTIONAL COURT OF AZERBAIJAN TURNS 5
Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan was established 5 years ago. Basing on democratic values, the Constitution of Azerbaijan, declaring its highest goal to provide rights and freedom of man and citizen, defined the significant role and place of the new institution in the Republic of Azerbaijan – Constitutional supervision and Constitutional Court in the system of state power. So, in 1998, after realization of all necessary legal and organizational measures, was created Constitutional Court, which on 14 July of the same year determined the first judges and started to function.On the eve of the Anniversary, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev sent a congratulation message to the Constitutional Court and its staff whereby, the heads of state, in particular, stressed: ‘In the past five years, the Constitutional Court took active part in the process of constructing of a democratic, legal, secular state, constituted strengthening respect and honor by every man for Constitution, Laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan principles of justice, freedom and humanism, development of democracy and legal culture, realization of the ideas of constitutionalism’.
