DM OF AZERBAIJAN RECEIVED TURKISH DELEGATION
Defense Minister of Azerbaijan received the Turkish delegation led by Deputy Commander of the Military Academy of Turkey corps general Selahettin Ugurlu, 1 Feb.
Having expressed satisfaction with regular visits to Azerbaijan of the delegations of Armed Forces of Turkey, the Minister has in detail informed visitors on the work done for settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Safar Abiyev has noted, that, despite of achievement of the ceasefire regime since 1994, , the said conflict cannot find its solution because of the destructive position of Armenia. As the aggressor is willing to annex the Nagorno-Karabakh province of Azerbaijan and 7 surrounding regions. However, Armenia never can do that. Today, Armed Forces of Azerbaijan are ready to clear the occupied lands.
The Minister has concerned developments of economic relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey which are in rise, ascertained, that Armenia, having remained outside of all regional projects, has put huge damage to its development from the economic point of view.
Minister Abiyev updated on the current military-political situation on the South Caucasus.
The Minister has informed the visitors on intensive integration of Azerbaijan into the Euro-Atlantic space, continuation of cooperation with NATO in the framework of the "Plan of Activity of Individual Partnership" and successful transition of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan to standards of NATO. He said that Armed Forces of Turkey play an important role in development of the Azerbaijan Army, expressing gratitude to the representatives of the armed forces of the brotherly country.
Corps general Selahattin Ugurlu has noted, that Armed Forces of Azerbaijan have achieved greater successes, noting that development of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan in this extremely tense region will reach higher level, as the capacity of army is defined by economic power of the state. And the economy of Azerbaijan dynamically develops.
In the meeting, the sides had comprehensive exchange of views of the Azerbaijani-Turkish relations in the defense sphere, underlining that Azerbaijan and Turkey should stand side by side in solution of all the problems.
The meeting was attended by military attaché of Turkey’s Armed Forces in the country general Seyhan Ceyhan.
