EGYPT EMBASSY HOLDS RECEPTION ON REVOLUTION DAY
Addressing the audience, Ambassador of Egypt Mrs. Jihan Amin Mohammad Ali told about the achievements her country has reached for the period after the July 23, 1952 Revolution. The diplomat was also speaking of the fruitfully developing bilateral relations of the two countries, and touching upon the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict over Nagorno Karabakh noted Egypt’s support of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
The Milli Majlis Chairman Murtuz Alasgarov has congratulated the participants on behalf of President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and Parliament deputies on the Revolution Day and wished the people of Egypt happiness and prosperity.
Speaking of the deepening of the relations between Egypt and Azerbaijan, he stressed they had been given a powerful impetus after the Cairo meeting between Presidents Heydar Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Hosni Mubarak of Egypt in 1994.
Touching upon the development of inter-parliamentary relations Murtuz Alaskarov reminded the Azerbaijani delegation’s visit to Egypt in 1997, meetings with Egyptian officials, including President Husni Mubarak and head of the country’s parliament Ahmat Surur during the regular session of the Inter-parliamentary Union. He also expressed satisfaction with the fact that Egypt had always supported Azerbaijan in various international organizations.
The reception was attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Milli Majlis Arif Rahimzadeh, Deputy Chairmen Govhar Bakhshaliyeva and Ziyafat Asgarov, ambassadors, scholars etc.
