EXPORT OPERATION HIKE

During January-March of 2006, residents and non-residents of Azerbaijan carried out transactions in the amount of $1,943,277 with 114 nations worldwide, according to State Customs Committee.

For this period, 1184 items of goods worth $1,037,797 were exported, while 4035 items worth $905,481 were imported.

The volume of export operations increased 116.43 percent in comparison with the same period a year ago, while import operations dropped by 19.92 percent.

The fall in import operations was driven by low supplies of natural gas, equipment, technical facilities and ferrous metals.
