FOREST CONFLAGRATION IN TURKEY
Tens of forest fires that burnt 548 hectares of forest areas have been registered. The biggest conflagration occurred in Burgazad situated at Sea of Marmora, near Istanbul: many houses were damaged. Another fire broke within the 300 hectares territory in Yuluji district of Chanakkala province
Head of Buyuksheher municipality of Istanbul Ali Mufit Gurtun does not exclude the deliberate arson. According to Turkish laws, woods are protected by state and any construction works are forbidden in these territories. Turkish police suspect some construction companies for committing sabotage in order to acquire new territories for construction. An investigation was launched into the case.
