Fujitsu and SUPA show off wireless powered and cord-free monitor
Baku, March 6 (AZERTAC). Fujitsu showed off a new monitor today that incorporates the prestidigitation technology, SUPA. The unassuming 22 inch monitor is amazing just to see it turn on, it has absolutely no cords at all, no power, no nothing. Put simply, it`s the PowerMat technology on steroids. Wireless USB transmits the video signal and inductive technologies provide the power. The entire desk surface is the charging port. Not even relying on direct contact, the all-wireless USB monitor still receives ample operating power an inch or so off the desk. Power seems to drop off after a few inches but it would be enough for a custom desk cover or a small stack of papers. Samsung has similar display that even offers USB 3.0 peripheral connectivity, yet it still needs to be plugged to a power outlet.
The desk can provide about 25W of power which could run a monitor , a net-book or just about any peripheral. As greener products are released, more options will present themselves. We can`t help but think this would partner well with all the NFC and Surface gizmos promising to be real. Cranking up the output power might start to get a little dangerous, your stapler might levitate and BuckyBalls could tear a hole in the universe. Sitting on the desk for long periods of time might provide a simple cure for that nagging procreation bug that`s going around too. Would be a crime if the stuff charging your gear was frying your junk. Hopefully they include some serious safety circuitry so we don`t have to call on professor Farnsworth for help, or heaven forbid, Dr. Wernstrom. Wernstrom! Check out the video demo after the jump.
