IN HONOR OF UZBEKISTANI NATIONAL DAY
At the reception, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan Abdugafur Abdurahmanov noted that independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan was declared on August 31 1991. During the years of independence, Uzbekistan has become a full member of the world community. Ambassador noted that Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations take a special place in foreign relations of the Uzbekustani Republic. Undoubtedly, an important role in strengthening of bilateral cooperation belongs to Presidents, Islam Karimov and Heydar Aliyev .
In his speech, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament Murtuz Alasgarov on behalf of the Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev cordially congratulated Uzbek people on 12th anniversary of independence. For the years of independence, Uzbekistan achieved good success. This fraternal country takes an important place in Central Asia, possessing vast economic potential.
Uzbek people have ancient rich history, culture, and literature. Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan achieved great success in restoration of the Great Silk Route.
The reception was attended by the deputies of Azerbaijani Parliament, Ministers, Ambassadors of some foreign countries, accredited in Azerbaijan and other officials.
