INTERGOVERNMENTAL PROTOCOL ON EAST-WEST CORRIDOR SECURITY SIGNED
As known, the Article 22 “Agreement among Azerbaijan Republic, Georgia and Turkish Republic on combat against terrorism, organized crime and other grave crimes”, signed on April 30, 2002 in Trabson, Turkey, stipulated regulation of security of the East-West energy corridor by the protocol, which would have been signed among the three states.
From Azerbaijani side, the protocol was signed by Deputy Premier Abid Sharifov, from Georgian side – president of the International Oil Corporation Georgiy Chanturia, from the Turkish side –Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkey to Azerbaijan Ahmed Unal Chevikez.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Fuel and Energy of Azerbaijan Mejid Karimov, deputy secretary of the Security Council of Georgia Georgiy Mjavanadze, BTC vice-president Michael Townsend and other officials.
