INTERNATIONAL ECOLOGICAL WORKSHOP STARTS WORKING

The international workshop “Application of Remote Probing Method in Environment Monitoring” organized with financial support of the European Union ans started its work at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan. Participating in the workshop are experts from the Eastern European countries, Caucasus and Central Asia as well as UN Environment Program, European Agency for Environment, and Regional ecological Center for Central and Eastern European countries.

Opening the workshop Minister Huseingulu Bafirov noted the topicality of the Remote Probing Method, which could play an important role in the process of monitoring of environmental situation, and conducting large-scale and long-term relevant research in the region.

According to him, huge work has been done in this relation in Azerbaijan. The Minister announced that opening of the reconstructed at the expense of Ministry’s funds and well-equipped Mashtagha aerological station for atmospheric probing.

The workshop participants will discuss different aspects of realization, structure and sources of financing to the pilot program for evaluation of the environmental situation of Eurasian region to be implemented in the countries of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia.
