International scientific seminar on the topic “Regulation and Sustainable Development of Groundwater on Urbanized Territories” organized by NATO science division and Institute of Geology of National Academy of Azerbaijan Sciences / NAS/ opened in “ Azerbaijan” hotel, in August 6. 60 participants represent 11 NATO member and 7 partner counties, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Baku State University, State Oil Academy of Azerbaijan and several Embassies of foreign countries to Azerbaijan.

Head of the Institute of Geology, academician Akif Alizade opened the seminar and mentioned its goals and significance. Other speakers were dwelt on ecological situation of groundwater and increase in seismic activity. It was noted, in particular, that these problems are related not only to Azerbaijan but also the whole world.

The seminar will last until August 15.
