INT’L WORKSHOP ON SCAD PROGRAM UNDERWAY
As was informed, national coordinator of the SCAD Program Mazahir Efendiyev, opening the seminar, stated that the Program is being realized since 2001. He underlined that one of the priorities of the Program is to render the government of Azerbaijan legal assistance, promote the reforms conducted in the field of improvement of legislation connected to narcotics.
Speaking on behalf of the government of Azerbaijan, head of the law enforcement management department of President Administration Fuad Alaskarov noted that among those as boundless crimes as terrorism, man trade, the humanity is facing since XXI century, is also narcotics which is a serious threat for the people, and that combat against this evil is one of the major duties of the state and governments.
Representatives of the international organizations, conducting the workshop, wished the law-enforcement bodies of Azerbaijan success in combat against drug addicts and called on the participants to be active in exchange of views.
Senior consultant of the UN Regional Office on combat against narcotics and criminality in the Central Asia Olga Zudova characterized cooperation of the world state in combat against narcotics as a key factor. Noting that in the passed year, in Tajikistan was detained 6 tons of only heroin, and that impounded only 10 percent of the trafficked narcotics, Ms. Zudova stressed the necessity of conducting resolute combat against narcotics.
