Itochu Corporation Executive Vice President: Cooperation between Japan and Azerbaijan has considerably diversified and enriched
Tokyo, February 28 (AZERTAC). Executive Vice President of Itochu Corporation, Yoichi Kobayashi, has praised cooperation between Japan and Azerbaijan as the two countries convened the 8th joint meeting of the intergovernmental economic cooperation commission and economic committee in Tokyo.
“Cooperation between Japan and Azerbaijan has considerably diversified and enriched,” Mr. Kobayashi, who co-chairs the intergovernmental commission, told Tokyo-based correspondent of Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC).
He said the 7th meeting took place in Baku in 2011, adding Azerbaijan has achieved rapid progress since then.
“This development covered not only the oil and gas sector, but also other fields of economy.”
Mr. Kobayashi said: “Azerbaijan laid out its intentions at that meeting, and we see how they are becoming a reality. An industrial park that has already been put into commission is a vivid evidence of this development. The Azerbaijani leadership`s strategy to ensure diversified development of its economy is already yielding fruits.”
The Itochu Corporation Executive Vice President said Azerbaijan had become a powerful country, adding “it is evidenced by Azerbaijan`s putting forward proposals in Tokyo with respect to space industry, the launch of satellites, application of information and communication technologies, and improvement of healthcare.
Mr. Kobayashi noted the importance of Azerbaijan`s participation in TANAP and TAP projects. “These projects are of great importance to Europe`s energy security.”
He said Japan would contribute to the projects through providing funding mechanisms and skilled specialists.
“This will help the two countries improve their cooperation,” added Mr. Kobayashi.
