Jon Ola Sand hands over document confirming right to hold Eurovision 2012 in Baku to Azerbaijan
Baku, May 16 (AZERTAC). “I congratulate Azerbaijan on the occasion of the victory in the Eurovision 2011 Song Contest. We believe that Azerbaijan will hold a next contest at the highest level", - EBU Executive Supervisor Jon Ola Sand said.
Jon Ola Sand also conveyed the document confirming the right to hold Eurovision 2012 in Baku, to the head of Azerbaijan`s Eurovision delegation Adil Kerimli. He congratulated the Azerbaijani people on the victory and wished Azerbaijan success.
“The joy of victory is great and unimaginable feeling. Sometimes we think that all this happens in a dream. This is the success of the entire Turkish world. Azerbaijan will organize the next competition at the highest level”, - Adil Kerimli said.
Kerimli said preparations for the Eurovision 2012 Song Contest will start in Baku soon.
Azerbaijan received 221 points for the song Running Scared written by Stefan Örn, Sandra Bjurman and composed by Stefan Örn, Sandra Bjurman and Iain Farquharson. The winners claimed victory in front of a live audience of more than 30,000 spectators at the Düsseldorf Arena, while millions watched on TV and online all over the world. 25 countries took part in the Final. The Final was transmitted live over the Eurovision and Euroradio networks, to Europe and beyond.
