Josepha Giacometti Piredda: Lack of progress in political settlement between France and Corsica VIDEO
Bastia, February 3, AZERTAC
“The recent act of violence perpetrated by the French police against two of our activists shortly after the establishment of the “Nazione” Party and the visit of French Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin to Corsica is unacceptable. We stand in solidarity with our activists and their families,” said Deputy of the Corsican Assembly Josepha Giacometti Piredda in an interview with AZERTAC.
Piredda emphasized that the recent events underscore the critical nature of the situation with the French government, stressing the urgent need to find genuine solutions between France and Corsica.
“Regarding recent developments, there may be slight progress in the realm of decentralization, however, there has been no substantial advancement on the matter. There has been no progress in the political resolution of the issue, nor in the recognition of the Corsican language and the rights of Corsican people residing in their ancestral lands. The question of progress in areas where political settlement is essential has not even been addressed,” noted the deputy.
