Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva visit Altiaghaj National Park

During their visit to Khizi district, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Union Leyla Aliyeva, and head of the Baku Media Center Arzu Aliyeva attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction of the Rehabilitation Center for Wild Animals at Altiaghaj National Park.
The center will create the necessary conditions for reintroducing rehabilitated wild animals - specifically bears - back into their natural habitat. It will provide veterinary examinations, physical rehabilitation, behavioral recovery programs, and special feeding regimens. These measures aim to prepare the animals both physically and behaviorally to survive and thrive in the wild.
In addition, wild birds that underwent years of rehabilitation at the Baku Zoological Park and have fully recovered were released into the wild in Altiaghaj National Park, with the participation of Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva. Among the released birds were two marsh harriers and one white-tailed eagle. These injured and weakened birds of prey had been found by local residents and handed over to the Baku Zoological Park. Under expert supervision, the birds were fully rehabilitated and restored to a condition suitable for their natural environment. Releasing rehabilitated birds is crucial for restoring ecological balance and preserving biodiversity.
IDEA Public Union urges citizens to avoid keeping wild animals in domestic settings, as this weakens biodiversity, disrupts natural balance, and poses serious threats to animal lives. Such practices can harm wild animals by disturbing their natural behavior, causing stress, and potentially triggering aggression, which endangers both animals and humans. Citizens are encouraged to call the Baku Zoological Park hotline at (012) 440-1096 if they encounter weak or injured wild animals, to facilitate their rehabilitation.
