The seminar of GUUAM countries on emergency civil and military planning “Intergovernmental cooperation on prevention of natural and man-caused catastrophes and possible terrorist acts in the GUUAM space” continued its work. On July 23, briefing for journalists was held in the “Europe” Hotel.

Chief of the Administration of civil defense of the Azerbaijan Republic, Colonel Javad Gasimov informed that the seminar, organized together with the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan and USA, is being held in the frameworks of program on technical assistance to the GUUAM countries. The key goal of the seminar is to hold the information exchange on earthquakes and terrorist attacks, as well as national legislation, bilateral and multilateral agreements, as well as discussion in the frameworks of GUUAM of mechanism of regional cooperation during the emergencies.

Numerous issues were discussed in the group sessions, held since July 21. It was informed that the conduction of such events in the GUUAM area would have great importance for liquidation of the emergency sequences in future, rendering humanitarian aid and establishment of mutual ties.

Seminar, in which representatives of Turkey and Bulgaria took part as observers, will finish on July 24.
