On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, outstanding political and public figure, AZERTAC highlights the chronology of the thorny and glorious path traveled by the Great Leader of the Azerbaijani people, his unique political and public activities, and his life given to the people.
15 January. First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev visited the southern region. The meetings, held as part of the trip, focused on issues of increasing production and delivery of early ripening varieties of vegetables in Lankaran district.
8 February. He made a speech at the Republican meeting of the leading manufacturers.
21 February. He delivered a speech at the solemn meeting of the Nakhchivan Regional Party Committee of the Communist Party and the Supreme Soviet of the Nakhchivan ASSR.
29 March. He made a speech at the Republican meeting of cotton growers.
11 April. He made a speech at the plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan.
15 April. He met with the participants of the 7th All-Union Film Festival held in Baku.
13 May. He received the first woman to travel into space, the Hero of the Soviet Union Valentina Tereshkova.
14 May. He made a speech at the solemn meeting dedicated to the 50th anniversary of establishment of the “Azerbaijani Woman” magazine.
31 May. He attended the solemn ceremony dedicated to the 100th anniversary of establishment of the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre.
17 June. He made a speech at the meeting dedicated to the 25th anniversary of establishment of Oil Rocks.
18 June. He made a speech at the meeting dedicated to the 25th anniversary of commissioning of oil fields at the Oil Rocks.
5 July. He made a speech at the seminar-meeting in Shaki district.
6 July. He visited Shamakhi district.
12 July. He made a speech at the plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan.
28 August. He met with Azerbaijani students enrolled into the leading higher educational institutions of the USSR.
7 September. He made a speech at the regional meeting of the heads of the cotton-growing districts.
4 October. He made a speech at the solemn meeting dedicated at the 50th anniversary of establishment of the Nakhchivan ASSR.
15 October. He made a speech at the Azerbaijani worker’s representative assembly.
5 November. He made a speech at the ceremony of presentation of State awards of Azerbaijan SSR.
8 December. He made a speech at the plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan.
30 December. He attended the solemn meeting dedicated to the 35th anniversary of establishment of the Caspian Higher Military Naval School.

On 29 September, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an Order to declare 2023 as a “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the country. 10 May 2023 will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, and an outstanding politician and statesman.
