On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, outstanding political and public figure, AZERTAC highlights the chronology of the thorny and glorious path traveled by the Great Leader of the Azerbaijani people, his unique political and public activities, and his life given to the people.
28-30 January. Heydar Aliyev delivered a speech at the 29th Congress of the Azerbaijan Communist Party. He made a speech at the closing ceremony of the Congress.
5 March. He was elected a candidate to the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
26 May. He made a speech at the 6th Congress of Azerbaijani writers.
23 June. He delivered a speech at the plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan.
16 July. He made a speech at the solemn event dedicated to the 70th anniversary of establishment of “Bakinskiy rabochiy” newspaper.
20-21 July. He visited Beylagan and Kurdamir districts.
1 September. He made a speech at the Republican regional meeting of cotton growers.
7 September. He met with female athletes of the country who took part at Montreal Summer Olympics.
6 October. He made a speech at the meeting with winegrowers in Shamakhi district.
18 October. He delivered a speech at the plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan.
3 November. He presented the diploma and medal of Laureate of State award to Bakhtiyar Vahabzade.
18 November. He made a speech at the solemn ceremony to celebrate the 70th birth anniversary of poet Samad Vurgun.
24 November. He delivered a speech at the plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan.
6 December. He received football players of “Neftchi” Football Club.
24 December. He made a speech at the event dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s cinematography.
28 December. He attended the inauguration ceremony of the Yukhari Khanbulanchay water reservoir.
29 December. He made a speech at the opening ceremony of Sarsang water reservoir.
31 December. He attended the inauguration ceremony of “Nizami” station of the Baku Metro.

On 29 September, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an Order to declare 2023 as a “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the country. 10 May 2023 will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, and an outstanding politician and statesman.
