On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, outstanding political and public figure, AZERTAC highlights the chronology of the thorny and glorious path traveled by the Great Leader of the Azerbaijani people, his unique political and public activities, and his life dedicated to the people.
4 February. First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev attended the 60th birth anniversary of Gara Garayev.
12 February. He delivered a speech at the session of party-economic activists of the Republic.
15 February. He attended a ceremony dedicated to the 60th birth anniversary of Gara Garayev.
9 April. He visited the textile factory in Sumgayit.
20 April. He delivered a speech at the 7th extraordinary session of the 9th convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan SSR “On the results of the draft of the Constitution of Azerbaijan SSR and its nationwide discussion”.
30 April. He met with the creative crew after the gala of the play "Barber of Seville" by Gioachino Rossini.
9 May. He visited military school after Jamshid Nakhchivanski.
18 May. He delivered a speech at the congress of Azerbaijani teachers.
3 June. He made a speech at the republican council of the agricultural workers.
19 July. He delivered a speech at the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan.
22 July. He made a speech at the higher general military school’s solemn meeting.

20-21 September. He welcomed General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Leonid Brezhnev who visited Baku. They visited Baku household air conditioners plant and the New Baku oil refinery factory.

20 October. He addressed the plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan.
28 October. He delivered a speech at the session of the leading economic activists.
3 November. He presented the Azerbaijan USSR state awards to a group of individuals.

On 29 September, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an Order to declare 2023 as a “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the country. 10 May 2023 will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, and an outstanding politician and statesman.
