On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, outstanding political and public figure, AZERTAC highlights the chronology of the thorny and glorious path traveled by the Great Leader of the Azerbaijani people, his unique political and public activities, and his life dedicated to the people.
4 January. First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev attended the completion of the construction of new facilities at the Baku Oil Refinery.
14 January. He made a speech at the opening ceremony of mausoleum and House of Poetry of Molla Panah Vagif in Shusha. He familiarized himself with the Shusha History Museum.
20 January. He watched the concert of Tikhon Khrennikov and Niyazi at the Azerbaijan State Philarmonic after M. Magomayev.
12 February. He attended the session at the Azerbaijan Pipe-Rolling Plant.
5 March. He delivered a speech at the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan.
22 March. He attended the unveiling ceremony of Jafar Jabbarli statue.
26 March. He delivered a speech at the session of “Elektroshtamp” test-experimental plant.
9 May. He visited the military boarding school after Jamshid Nakhchivanski.
10 May. He met with senior executives and football players of FC Neftchi Baku.
18 May. He made a speech at the funeral ceremony of Gara Garayev.
4 June. He met with a group of the “Bolshoi Theater” of the USSR who were on tour in Baku.
10 June. He attended the opening of the House Museum of the prominent singer Bulbul.
2-3 July. He made a speech at the plenary sessions of the party committees of Lankaran and Astara.
17 July. He made a speech at the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra named after Uzeyir Hajibayov.
29 July. He attended Vagif Poetry Days in Shusha.
31 July. He made a speech at the joint visiting plenary session of boards of directors of creative unions of Azerbaijan in Khankendi.
3 August. He delivered a speech at the opening of the monument of Natavan in Shusha.
7 September. He held party-economic activists’ zonal meetings in the cotton growing regions.
11 September. He delivered a speech at the party-economic activists’ zonal meetings in vine-growing regions.
24 September. He welcomed Leonid Brezhnev who visited Azerbaijan. He delivered a speech at the solemn session.
1-2 October. He visited Nakhchivan ASSR.
5 October. He received participants of the Days of “Lenfilm” film studio held in the republic.
12 October. He met with the artists at the Azerbaijan Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan.
18 October. He addressed the event dedicated to the 170th anniversary of Mirza Fatali Akhundov.
25 October. He made a speech at the 1st Congress of Azerbaijan’s field doctors.
26 October. On Heydar Aliyev’s initiative, remains of Huseyn Javid were brought from Siberia.
2 November. He attended the farewell ceremony of Huseyn Javid, whose remains were brought from Siberia.
22 November. He was elected as the member of Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
24 November. By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, he was appointed as the First Deputy Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers.
6 December. He embarked on a visit to Moscow.

On 29 September, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an Order to declare 2023 as a “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the country. 10 May 2023 will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, and an outstanding politician and statesman.
