14 January. Great Leader Heydar Aliyev made a speech at the meeting of Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
20 January. He delivered a speech at the commemorative event held at the Alley of Martyrs in Nakhchivan city.
5 February. He made a speech at the 12th convocation of the 1st session of Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan SSR.
7 March. He voted against the participation of the Republic in referendum for the preservation of the USSR during the session of the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan Republic.
19 July. He quitted the Communist Party.
30 August. He delivered a speech at the extraordinary session of the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan Republic on the “Declaration of Independence of Azerbaijan”.
3 September. He was elected as a Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
5 September. He met with residents of Nehram village.
8 October. He met with representative of Marmara Eyitim and Culture Foundation in Azerbaijan Hilmi Öney and correspondent of “Zaman” newspaper for Azerbaijan Yilmaz Polad.
12 October. He received a group of Turkish specialists, who arrived in Nakhchivan to ensure the power supply to the Republic.
19 October. He sent a telegram to the session of the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan Republic on approval of the declaration of state independence.

26 October. He made a speech at the session of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
29 October. He visited Sadarak district to attend the official opening ceremony of the bridge between Azerbaijan and Turkiye built across the Araz River.
6 November. He met with representatives of State Security Committee and Main Border Department of USSR.
7 November. He made a speech at the meeting of command personnel of military units located in Nakchivan Autonomous Republic.
9 November. He met with the representatives of the Governor of Kars province.
11 November. He received Governor of Marand of Islamic Republic of Iran Reza Ibadi.
13 November. He held a press conference for foreign journalists, including correspondents of Turkish Milliyet and Hurriyet newspapers.
15 November. He met with a delegation led by Department Director of Turkey’s Ministry of Transport Aytekin Akagun.
18 November. He received representatives of intelligentsia, who arrived in Nakhchivan with a first caravan of aid containing foods from the Turkish city of Konya.
14-15 December. He made a speech at the meeting of Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
16 December. He signed a landmark decree of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on 31 December - the Day of Solidarity and Unity of World Azerbaijanis.
27 December. He met with employees of the US Embassy in Moscow who arrived in Nakhchivan.

On 29 September, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an Order to declare 2023 as a “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the country. 10 May 2023 will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, and an outstanding politician and statesman.
