On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, outstanding political and public figure, AZERTAC highlights the chronology of the thorny and glorious path traveled by the Great Leader of the Azerbaijani people, his unique political and public activities, and his life dedicated to the people.

1 April. President Heydar Aliyev met with a group of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Kalbajar district.
2 April. He made a speech at the meeting dedicated to the results of the year.
5-6 April. He addressed the event dedicated to the events of October 1994 and March 1995 and the social and political situation in the country.
9-11 April. He was on an official visit in Pakistan.
12 April. He received the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia and the member of the US Congress.
14 April. He met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey Mesut Yilmaz, who was on a visit to Azerbaijan. They visited the Alley of Martyrs.
15 April. President Heydar Aliyev, together with Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey Mesut Yilmaz, met with the IDPs temporarily settled in the Sabunchu district of Baku.
17 April. He addressed the meeting dedicated to the discussion of the draft agreement on friendship and cooperation between the European Union and Azerbaijan.
21-26 April. He visited Western European countries - Luxembourg, Belgium and Norway. During the visit, he held meetings with the foreign ministers of Great Britain, Germany, Italy, and Finland, the President of Georgia, the President of the European Union, the US President's special envoy and the NATO Secretary General. He addressed the signing ceremony of the agreement on partnership and cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
28 April. He met with the IDPs settled in the sanatorium in Pirshagi on the occasion of the holy Eid al-Adha.

On 29 September, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an Order to declare 2023 as a “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the country. 10 May 2023 will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, and an outstanding politician and statesman.
