On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, outstanding political and public figure, AZERTAC highlights the chronology of the thorny and glorious path traveled by the Great Leader of the Azerbaijani people, his unique political and public activities, and his life dedicated to the people.
2 January. President Heydar Aliyev met with parents and close relatives of a group of young people, who voluntarily left military units or evaded military service.
4-5 January. He held an official meeting on army building and visited the frontline regions.
6 January. He received commander of the Russian troops in the South Caucasus, Colonel-General Fyodor Reut.
9 January. He met with a group of Azerbaijanis living abroad.
11 January. He received a delegation of the Republic of Latvia.
12 January. He held a meeting of the State Commission commemorating the 4th anniversary of 20 January tragedy.
13 January. He met with a group of officers heading to frontline.
15 January. He received a special representative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
17 January. He received UN Representative in Azerbaijan Mahmoud Al-Said.
18 January. He delivered a speech at the meeting of Milli Majlis on the events occurred on January 20, 1990.
19 January. He addressed the nation on the fourth anniversary of 20 January tragedy.
He met with a group of martyr families, as well as disabled people wounded during the 20 January events.
20 January. He visited the Alley of Martyrs.
21 January. He attended the session of the Milli Majlis dedicated to the 20 January events.
26 January. He was awarded with Honorary doctorate degree of Ankara’s Hacettepe University.
27 January. He received representatives of Turkey-Azerbaijan Culture Centre.

30 January. He met with representatives of the “AMOCO” oil company of the U.S.

On 29 September, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an Order to declare 2023 as a “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the country. 10 May 2023 will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, and an outstanding politician and statesman.
