3 January. President Heydar Aliyev attended the opening ceremonies of shopping center and Baku Health Center in Baku’s Khatai district.
4 January. He made a speech at the opening ceremony of Dubendi Terminal.
14 January. He delivered a speech at the meeting of the Constitutional Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
16 January. He held an official meeting on the implementation of land reforms in the Republic.
He made a speech at the official meeting dedicated to nationwide support to the National Army.
20 January. He met with family members of martyrs at the Alley of Martyrs.
22 January. He made a statement on submitting a proposal to Milli Majlis as part of legislative initiative to abolish death penalty in Azerbaijan.
24 January. He paid a working visit to Georgia.
27 January. He delivered a speech at the meeting of Security Council on strengthening the fight against crime, as well as the cases undermining Azerbaijan’s national-moral values.
He was awarded with prize “For Service to Turkic World” of the Turkic World’s Writers and Artists Foundation (TURKSAV) for 1997.

On 29 September, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an Order to declare 2023 as a “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the country. 10 May 2023 will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, and an outstanding politician and statesman.
