1 January. President Heydar Aliyev attended children’s New Year festivities.
7 January. He met with a delegation led by Chairman of the Justice and Development (AK) Party of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He delivered a speech at the official reception in honor of Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the “Ulduz” palace.
14 January. He received head of the U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation.
He made a speech at the ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. He watched a concert of the Turkish Black Sea philharmonic orchestra at Azerbaijan’s State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.
16 January. He received the delegation of the CIS Executive Committee.
18 January. He attended and delivered a speech at the event commemorating the 13th anniversary of the 20 January tragedy.
20 January. He visited the Alley of Martyrs.
He met with the ambassadors of the foreign countries and members of the international organizations accredited to Azerbaijan, who visited the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate the Azerbaijani heroes.
23 January. He received the UNESCO delegation.
28-29 January. He visited Kyiv to attend the informal summit of CIS heads of state.

On 29 September, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an Order to declare 2023 as a “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the country. 10 May 2023 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, and an outstanding politician and statesman.
