4 May. National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev held a joint meeting of the heads of the Presidential Office and the Cabinet of Ministers.
5 May. He met with a group of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Shusha city and Lachin district.
9 May. He visited the grave of the Hero of the Soviet Union Hazi Aslanov and the Alley of Martyrs.
12-13 May. He paid a visit to Iran. During the visit, he held talks with the heads of state of Iran, Georgia, Armenia and Pakistan.
14 May. He participated in the Fourth Summit of the Heads of Member States of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Ashgabat. As part of his visit to Ashgabat, he met with the presidents of Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
16-17 May. He paid a visit to Moscow, held talks with Russian officials.
26 May. He made a speech at the event held on the occasion of the Republic Day.

On 29 September, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an Order to declare 2023 as a “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the country. 10 May 2023 will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, and an outstanding politician and statesman.
