On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, outstanding political and public figure, AZERTAC highlights the chronology of the thorny and glorious path traveled by the Great Leader of the Azerbaijani people, his unique political and public activities, and his life dedicated to the people.

2 September. President Heydar Aliyev attended the ceremony held at school N 275 in Surakhani district on the occasion of Knowledge Day.
6 September. He presented the "Istiqlal" order to the outstanding singer and composer Muslum Magomayev.
8 September. He made a speech at the official reception organized in honor of Muslum Magomayev.
10 September. He received a delegation led by Chairman of the Foundation of Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen Veli Sarıtoprak.
11 September. He received Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization Francesco Frangialli.
12 September. He paid a visit to the city of Ganja. He participated in the opening of the Olympic Sports Complex there. He met with soldiers and officers in a military unit, as well as held a meeting in the Ganja City Executive Authority.
13 September. He arrived from Ganja to Goranboy district. He made a speech at the opening of the Ashagi Aghjakand settlement.
17 September. He met with President of the Republic of Turkey Ahmet Necdet Sezer and President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze, who arrived in Azerbaijan for a working visit. He received a delegation led by US Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham.
18 September. He attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main export pipeline at the Sangachal Terminal together with President of Turkey Ahmet Necdet Sezer and President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze.
He made a speech at the official reception in honor of the heads of state and delegations on the occasion of the foundation of BTC.
22 September. He received the RF delegation led by Chairman of the Russian State Duma Gennady Seleznev.
24-27 September. He paid a working visit to the Russian Federation. During the visit, he met with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation I. Ivanov and high-ranking representatives of the Moscow government.
28 September. He received the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.

On 29 September, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an Order to declare 2023 as a “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the country. 10 May 2023 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, and an outstanding politician and statesman.
