NAKHCHIVAN DIVISION OF NAS TURNS ONE
‘Six scientific research institutes have been founded under the division, which comprises 170 scientists and technical personnel. All necessary conditions have been created for them to conduct research on botanical garden and so-called ‘Shornav’ area, which belong to the Institute of Bioresources. Once, a number of rare plants and trees were perished because of lack of water, now the botanical garden is being reconstructed: due to the new subartesian well, a lot of work have been done in this regard.
At 50 hectares Pilot Square of the Institute’s ‘Shornav’ area, various sorts of grain, 2 sorts of tea leafs, 46 sorts of grape, and other fruits and berries are cultivated, and their gene pool is created.
Our division has closed agreement with industrial enterprise ‘EKO-lat’ located in the city of Electrogorsk, Moscow region, which implies purchasing obtained extracts, oils and waters’.
The Nakhchivan division of the National Academy of Science founded a year ago by the instruction of President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev will foster development of science not only in Nakhchivan, but also throughout the country.
