National Leader Heydar Aliyev commemorated in Washington

An event commemorating the 22nd anniversary of the passing of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held at the George Washington University in Washington, the U.S.
Organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in the U.S., the event gathered the Azerbaijani officials, members of the Azerbaijani community in the country, as well as the Azerbaijani students studying in the U.S.
The participants first observed a minute of silence to honor the memory of the National Leader.
Addressing the event, Khazar Ibrahim, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the U.S., highlighted National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s contributions to enhance relations with the U.S. The diplomat noted that the Washington Summit on August 8 marked the beginning of a new era in bilateral relations.
In his remarks, Hafiz Pashayev, Rector of the ADA University, highlighted Heydar Aliyev’s farsighted vision, describing the National Leader as an outstanding diplomat.
Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, underscored Heydar Aliyev’s crucial role in signing the landmark energy and oil agreements.
Samad Seyidov, MP, head of the Azerbaijan-US interparliamentary working group, highlighted the agreements signed between Azerbaijan and the U.S. as one of the National Leader’s greatest achievements, adding that this policy is successfully pursued by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The event featured the screening of the “Iz” (Trace) documentary produced by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, as well as a photo exhibition, highlighting Heydar Aliyev’s visits to the U.S.
