NATIONAL TV & RADIO COUNCIL SHARPLY CONDEMNS ‘STAR TV’ SLANDEROUS CAMPAIGN
The statement, in particular, says: ‘The National TV & Radio Council expresses strong protest against a number of opposition media, as well as Turkey’s ‘Star TV’ and the newspaper of the same name for dissemination of false and slanderous information concerning Azerbaijan President Heydar Aliyev’s personality and health, and takes this as a part of the dirty political campaign launched by the forces hostile towards Azerbaijan on the eve of the upcoming Presidential elections.
Noting the rich historical past of the Azerbaijani-Turkish ties which due to President Heydar Aliyev’s great personal contribution had been steady developing and reached a qualitatively new level, the Council considers the actions of the ‘Star’ and newspaper which disseminate unbiased and slanderous information on the Azerbaijan President’ health and course of medical examination as an attempt to stir up enmity between the two states and nations.
The National Television & Radio Council is confident that taking into account fair protest of a broad strata of Azerbaijan society, Turkey’s Radio & TV Ust Gurum will take appropriate judicial measures toward Star TV within the next few days.
