NEW SPORTS ARENA IN SUMGAIT
New ping-pong hall with an area of 200 sq. km was opened in Sumgait on the threshold of the city day.
In his speech, head of Sumgait city Vagif Aliyev stated that since 1997 after appointment of Ilham Aliyev as President of the National Olympic Committee, new sports era was started.
He noted that such steps would let our sportsmen to be loyal to the traditions and multiply glory of Sumgait tennis player - repeated champion of the USSR and Europe Valentina Popova.
In their speeches, Deputy of Milli Majlis, President of the ping-pong urban society Tofig Huseynli, chief coach Yury Aparin and others expressed their satisfaction with the reforms taken place in Sumgait within past time.
