OIC COUNCIL OF FOREIGN MINISTERS RECOGNIZES KHOJALY GENOCIDE AS OUTRAGE ON HUMANITY
Baku, May 20 (AZERTAC). The 37th session of the Organization of Islamic Conference`s Council of Foreign Ministers adopted a resolution on the activity of the OIC Youth Forum. The resolution urged OIC member countries as well as OIC`s international organizations to take an active part in the Justice for Khojaly campaign and recognize internationally and locally this tragedy as an outrage on humanity, head of the Forum`s delegation to the session, Islamic Conference Youth Forum`s Secretary General Elshad Isgandarov said.
The document hailed forum`s activity and implementation of the “Humanitarian tragedies committed in OIC countries in 20th century” program.
According to Isgandarov, it is the first resolution in which foreign ministers of OIC 57 member countries used the term outrage on humanity and expressed their views on the nature of the Khojaly tragedy. This document lays solid groundwork for raising the issue of recognizing the tragedy internationally. The Justice for Khojaly campaign initiated by general coordinator of the Youth Forum Leyla Aliyeva played a key role in raising awareness of 57 OIC member states.
