Over 200 gymnasts from 33 countries to vie for medals at 30th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Baku
Baku, June 12 (AZERTAC). “The capital of Azerbaijan hosts the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships for the third time,” said President of the European Union of Gymnastics (UEG) Georges Guelzec at a press conference.
He hailed excellent organization of the event in Azerbaijan in 2007 and 2009.
Georges Guelzec noted the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation was quite experienced in this sphere.
Saying the tournament is a qualifying for the first European Games, Georges Guelzec noted over 200 athletes from 33 countries would vie for 9 sets of medals at the tournament.
He also hailed the preparations for the first European Olympic Games to be held in Baku.
Secretary General of the Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation, Vice President of the European Gymnastics Union Farid Gayibov said that following the European Championship the next test event for the “Baku-2015” would be organized in Azerbaijan.
Head coach of the Azerbaijani team Mariana Vasilyeva expressed hope that juniors would compete successfully in the tournament.
30th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships will be held in Baku from June 13-15 at the National Gymnastics Arena.
