President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has met with Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria Sebastian Kurz in Vienna.

President Ilham Aliyev and Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz then held a one-on-one meeting.

Saying he is pleased to be in Austria, President Ilham Aliyev thanked Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz for the organization of the visit and the invitation, and invited him to pay a visit to Azerbaijan.

Briefing the Federal Chancellor on his meeting with the Armenian prime minister in Vienna, the head of state expressed gratitude to the Austrian side for organizing this meeting, and added that Austria has great experience in organizing and holding such meetings. Pointing out that Azerbaijan and Austria enjoy high-level political ties, President Ilham Aliyev underlined that there is big potential for the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in economic, trade, information technologies, agricultural, transport and other areas.

The successful activities of Austrian companies in Azerbaijan were hailed. President Ilham Aliyev said a five-year regional economic development program was adopted in Azerbaijan, and highlighted opportunities for cooperation between Austrian companies with Azerbaijan on the basis of this program.

Azerbaijan-European Union relations were also discussed at the meeting, and Austria`s support for the development of these ties was emphasized. It was noted that the Partnership Priorities document between Azerbaijan and the European Union was signed during the Austrian presidency. The importance of transport cooperation between Austria and Azerbaijan was underlined and it was stressed that Austrian companies could benefit from the transport infrastructure created by Azerbaijan in the region.

Accepting the invitation of the Azerbaijani President, Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said that Austria attaches great importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan.

The meeting then continued in an expanded format with the participation of the delegations.
