PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV SENDS GREETINGS TO WOMEN OF AZERBAIJAN ON MARCH 8, INTERNATIONAL WOMAN’S DAY
On March 7, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a message of greetings to the women of the country on the occasion of March 8, the International Woman`s Day.
The message reads:
“Dear women!
On the occasion of the International Woman`s Day, I extend to you, all the Azerbaijani women, my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for your good health, happiness and every success in work.
We all are rightly proud of the great progress our dynamically developing country has achieved as a participant in the large-scale economic projects.
The signs of this progress are clearly evident in every corner of our republic. The great role of the Azerbaijani women in these achievements is indisputable.
Our women, who, since ancient times, have distinguished themselves by devotion to their homeland, today, continue to make their valuable contributions to the cause of strengthening of the sovereign Republic of Azerbaijan.
Diligence, wisdom, high-mindedness and devotion to our people`s centuries-old national and moral values are the characteristics, which define an image and a place of a present-day Azerbaijani woman in our public life.
A woman of Azerbaijan, who won the right to elect and be elected in 1918, for a short period of time in the 20th century, followed the path of development, which normally takes a few centuries.
She has always demonstrated high professionalism and selflessness in enlightening our people, developing our culture and building our modern economy.
The high respect shown to women in our society has created a favorable basis for them to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in culture, science, education, health care and other fields.
Today, our women are realizing their intellectual potential in many spheres of life, including in civil society building and forming an intercultural dialogue.
I am hopeful that in 2009, which was declared Year of the Child, our women will exert their efforts towards bringing up next generations in the spirit of respect to our national and cultural heritage, customs and traditions, and will worthily contribute to the process of flourishing of our ever-renewing country.
Happy Woman`s Day!”
