PRIME MINISTER OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV TOOK PART IN OPENING CEREMONY OF QARADAQ GAS COMPRESSOR STATION
Prime Minster was warmly welcomed by the participants of the ceremony.
Further, Prime Minister acquainted with dispatcher office of the station equipped with up-to-date equipment, was informed about the route of a high-pressure gas pipeline and pressed the “start” button, starting the operation of the station.
The ceremony was addressed by an introductory speech of the President of Azerigas joint stock company Alikhan Malikov.
He greeted the participants of the ceremony and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister for coming.
During the first official visit to Japan of the President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev in February, 1998, he signed an agreement with the Japanese Eximbank on allocation of a loan for reconstruction of North power station and for ethylene-propylene plant in Sumgait as well as construction projects of the gas pipeline Qaradaq-North power station and Qaradaq gas compressor station, he said.
A. Malikov spoke on aims of the project and about practical implementation of the project jointly with main contractor, the Japanese Mitsui/Toyo Consortium, contractor Tekfen/Azfen joint venture and subcontractor Sumgaitkimyatikinti Joint Stock Company.
Mitsui/Toyo consortium was the main contractor in compressor station construction, contractor TML BOROVA and EPRO companies. Besides such companies as German LIPEX, Man Turbo, Siemens, Japanese Nippon Steel, Mitsubishi, Russian Chelyabinsk pipe rolling plant, American Flagstaff Arizona, British FMS Energy Systems, Thai Fuji Electric Systems, Italian Fumaqalli Coponenti, Israeli Modcom Systems, Czech MSA and others took part in equipment supply.
Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan Toshiyuki Fuchivara, representative of the Japanese Economic cooperation bank Mr. Uchida, representative of Mitsui Company Takekhiro Toqo, and representative of Toyo Company Mr. Yamada made speeches at the ceremony.
