PROGRESSIVE STEPS MADE TOWARDS FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS IN AZERBAIJAN, RINO HARNISH SAYS
On 2 November, at the head office of the Central European and Eurasian Law Initiative (CEELI) in Baku with the help of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) was held the “Election Day Lawyer” to train 20 lawyers. In his speech, the US Ambassador in Baku Rino Harnish talked about the main goals of the training such as detection and reporting of election violations to the Central Election Committee (CEC) and courts. All the participants of the training will be at courts for helping people with their problems. The hot line opens for constituencies whose rights will be violated during the election processes. According to Rino Harnish, the last presidential Decree on finger inking to prevent multiple voting and permit nongovernmental organizations funded from abroad to monitor the poll is one of the most progressive steps made by the government in conducting free and fair elections in Azerbaijan.
