PROJECT HARMONY COMPLETES ITS PROGRAM IN AZERBAIJAN
The event devoted to completion of the Project Harmony-administered and US Department of State-funded Azerbaijan Connections and Exchange program was held at the Ministry of Education.
Minister of Education Misir Mardanov addressed the participants including chiefs of regional education departments and principals of schools. He told about US-Azerbaijan relations and their importance.
The Minister briefed the participants on the activity of the Project Harmony, noting that the organization, which has its offices in USA, Russia, Ukraine and South-Caucasus, began its activity in Azerbaijan on August 1, 2001.
Within the framework of the program, Internet Computer Centers (ICC) were created in 72 schools of Baku, Nakhchivan, Kurdemir, Salyan, Mingechevir, Shamakhi, Lankaran, Ali-Bayramly, Yevlakh, Sumgait and other cities and regions of Azerbaijan. Educational institutions were provided with 377 computers, servers and printers. 10000 students and 2000 teachers were involved into this project.
The Head of Public Affairs section of the US Embassy to Azerbaijan Jonathan Henick and head of the "Harmony Project" Baku office Kerri Kosbi stressed the importance of education in the development of society.
