PROSECUTOR GENERAL OF AZERBAIJAN HELD OPERATIVE SESSION IN GANJA
in Ganja on August 2.
First of all, regional and urban prosecutors made reports to the session. Besides, the issues of further strengthening of law, protection of freedoms and human rights last year, real state of affairs in the field of combat against criminality were analyzed. Further, concrete actions on further improvement of public prosecutor offices’ work were outlined, AzerTAj correspondent was informed by press-service of the General Prosecutor Office.
In his speech, Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov especially underlined that achievements in combat against criminality for first half of 2003, is a logical result of reasonable actions taken by President Heydar Aliyev.
After restoration of state independence of Azerbaijan, mainly after the meeting of April 26, 2000, with the participation of the President of Azerbaijan, radical change of Public Prosecutor Office and turning it into a democratic and civilized body, aimed at protection of human rights, creation of legislative basis, determining its role and status in society, resolution of issues of financial and social security of prosecutor office staff meeting international standards have become real due to President’s hard work.
Speakers definitely condemned immoral articles, full of outrageous lies and calumny, published in some opposition newspapers, and wounding honor of the President of Azerbaijan.
In their reports, speakers underlined that presidential elections would become the triumph of unity of people and President Heydar Aliyev, the founder of independent Azerbaijani state and a well-tried leader of Azerbaijani people.
