Real Madrid signs Sergio Martínez
Baku, August 31, AZERTAC
Real Madrid have completed the signing of Sergio Martínez, a Racing de Santander player, for the three million euros of his release clause, according to Marca.
The player, a native of Laredo, will join Real Madrid Castilla, although he will also have the chance to train with the first team.
The Cantabrian midfielder arrives after making his debut this very season with a goal in the First Division after being promoted from the second tier with the green-and-white side. At just 19 years old, he will sign until 2030 with Real Madrid.
The transfer has been completed with the payment of the release clause. This was confirmed by Racing itself in its official statement: "Racing and Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of Sergio Martínez. The Madrid club undertakes to pay, in a single installment, the full amount set as the release clause in the contract linking Real Racing Club and the player. By virtue of this, the footballer from Laredo leaves the green-and-white club."
The Cantabrian club also wanted to dedicate an emotional farewell to a footballer trained entirely in its academy. "Sergio has belonged to Racing since the age of 10 and has climbed every step from Alevín B to the first team, with which he has played 15 matches", the club recalled. "We want to wish him all the success he deserves. We are very proud of your progress and of how you have defended the badge all these years. The Campos de Sport de El Sardinero will always be your home".
