RECEPTION AT MILLI MAJLIS
Having warmly welcomed the guest, the Chairman of the Parliament stressed that Azerbaijan-Turkey strategical cooperation is expanding due to efforts of the two countries’ heads of the state. He noted that the visit of the Turkish general concurs with the remarkable period – election of Prime Minister Ilham Aliyev as President of Azerbaijan. The official announcement of the election returns by the Constitutional Court will be followed by inauguration and Ilham Aliyev will enter upon office of the Head of the State.
Touching upon the reforms carried out in Azerbaijan for the last period under the leadership of President Heydar Aliyev, the speaker told of the accomplishments in building up the army, rise of prestige and power of the Armed Forces. He said Azerbaijan’s army is capable of defending the country’s territorial integrity and inviolability of borders.
Then, Chairman expressed satisfaction with Turkey’s position as to the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Garabakh conflict.
Having thanked the Chairman for the warm welcome, general Aytaj Yalman said the accomplishments achieved by Azerbaijan, in particular, in building up the army are indeed worth acclaiming. Turkey as always been and now is beside Azerbaijan; the Nagorno-Garabakh conflict is not only Azerbaijan’s but also Turkey’s problem. We wish Azerbaijan to forge ahead and are ready to assist in this business.
The parties exchange views on other issues of mutual interest, as well.
