“ROUND TABLE” CONNECTED TO ANTI-CORRUPTION STATE PROGRAM HELD
As was informed to AzerTAj from the department of work with law enforcement bodies of the Executive Administration of the President, participants of the meeting have carried out exchange of views on the measures which have been carried out recently in Azerbaijan in the field of combat against corruption. It has been marked, that the Azerbaijan Republic always showed persistence and determination in combat against corruption and has carried out for this purpose all measures. In January of this year, the Law on combat against corruption” was adopted. And on the Order of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated March 3, 2004, alongside with other measures, were given assignments in the field of combat against corruption, on improvement of the project of the State Program on combat against corruption. The Azerbaijan Republic has joined a number of the international documents directed against corruption, including to Conventions of the Council of Europe “On the criminal liability in connection with corruption”, “On the civil-law responsibility in connection with corruption” and Conventions of the United Nations Organization “On the transnational organized crime”, and also has signed the “Convention of the United Nations Organization against corruption”. The Azerbaijan Republic also became a member of Group of the states of the Council of Europe against corruption (GRECO).
At the " round table”, discussed was the legislation, activity of bodies and the courts conducting combat against corruption, activity of the state bodies in economic, social sphere, other actions stipulated by the project of the State Program on combat against corruption in the field of education and cooperation, opinions and offers of participants have been considered in connection with the given actions. Participants have estimated the project of the State Program as the perfect, all-round and thorough document for realization of combat against corruption.
At the “round-table”, attending were representatives of the Executive Administration of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic, Milli Majlis, the Cabinet, the State Office of Public Prosecutor, the Ministries of Justice and economic development, the working group created for improvement of the project of the State Program on combat against corruption, representatives of embassies of foreign countries, international organizations, including the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Transparency International, OSCE and the Council of Europe, the nongovernmental organizations.
After the offers and proposals are made, the participants of "round table” and other partners will design the final project of the State Program on combat against corruption.
