SEMIFINALISTS OF OLYMPIC LICENSE TOURNAMENT KNOWN
In the first set, Germany outclassed Russia 25:11. The Russians dominated in the second set and secured a 25-16 win over Germans. The third set characterized a stiff fight and ended with a narrow 25:23 win of Russians. In the fourth set, the German volleyball players thrashed the Russians /25:16/. The final fifth set was won by Germans 15:13. Thus, the final score – 3:2 in favor of Germany.
German national team will clash with Turkey in the semifinal, while the Russians quit the tournament.
The other encounter between Turkey and Holland was won by Turkish volleyball players. Turkey beat the Dutch players in the first set /25:22/. In the second set, due to their balanced play the Dutch players managed to equalize the game – 1:1. However, Turkish national team secured a 25:21 victory in the final third set and progressed to the semifinal.
National teams of Azerbaijan and Poland encountered in the final fame of the group stage. Despite the early pressing of Polish players, Azerbaijani athletes outclassed the Poland national team /25:18/. The second and third sets were won also won by Azerbaijanis to secure the only victory at the tournament.
In the semifinals to be held on January 9, Poland will clash with Italy, Turkey with Germany. The final is due January 10.
