Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis meets with Mozambican PM

As part of her working visit to Serbia, Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Mozambique Maria Benvinda Levi.
The meeting focused on the current state of relations between the two countries and prospects for their further development.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to developing relations with African countries. Speaking about the importance of cooperation within the Non-Aligned Movement, the Speaker highlighted the activities carried out by Azerbaijan during its four-year chairmanship of the organization, the efforts of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network established at the initiative of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, as well as the achievements made during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship.
The meeting also addressed the current state of bilateral relations in a number of areas, with the sides exchanging views on further developing mutual ties.
Recalling her meeting with Margarida Talapa, Speaker of the Assembly of Mozambique, who visited Azerbaijan in June to attend the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, Sahiba Gafarova emphasized the importance of cooperation and mutual support within international organizations.
Maria Benvinda Levi hailed the current state of relations between Mozambique and Azerbaijan. She expressed her gratitude to Azerbaijan for the participation of Mozambican students and diplomats in programs held in Azerbaijan. She noted that Azerbaijan had also provided support to Mozambique during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established at the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, serves as an important platform for discussing a number of key issues, and noted that Mozambique also participates in the Network’s activities.
The meeting also discussed prospects for cooperation in the parliamentary, educational, humanitarian, and other fields.
